I am interested in becoming a substitute teacher in cherokee county. I understand that the adult education center offers this training, but I would like to know what I could expect.
Is it easy to become employed with Cherokee county once you are certified as a substitute teacher? Who qualifies for the training? (I did not finish high school, but recently took and passed the SC GED test.) How often is the training given in cherokee county?
Thanks in advance for any replies.

Well you'd be wrong. Because guess what? They do! After two years of college - anyone can sub. Wow, and they even let you into college with a GED. Amazing huh? Apparently everyone isn't as narrow-minded as you are.

I'm not narrow minded. I only wonder what you can possibly teach to the children - how NOT to finish school? But I guess if it's okay with the officials in Gaffney (and what isn't okay with them?) then it's okay with me.

Dont worry about nocommonsense. He's proof they let people who are educated beyond their intelligence post personal attacks, when he has no other reason to belittle someone

You've already convinced yourself that someone with a GED is ignorant. If that's not narrow-minded, I don't know what is.

I never said you were ignorant. I do believe you have a lot to offer. I just think our teachers - including substitute teachers - should be people who have excelled in mainsteam education. Luckily for you, I'm not the one who makes the decisions about who to hire.

They do let people who have just their GED's substitute. Give her some credit, I mean she/he did go back to school and take the exam, they didn't have too but they did. They got a second chance and they took it. Some people make mistakes and then they realize them. I think it would be great for them too be a substitute teacher, especially since they got their GED, because most people who quit never go back. Thank You! College Graduate

Erin, I applaud you! I think you could be a shining example for kids who are *thinking* of dropping out of school by teaching them that, you made a mistake and, when you discovered it you rectified it. There are many lessons that you could teach them along this vein. Not to mention if you are certified that means you will probably have to be proficient in what you need for teaching. Do not let the Nay sayers and the belittlers of others get to you. Just go your own course and attain your goals.
