Good Morning Redneck, I was re-reading a couple of messages about Gaffney politics, but I really think that Raul Martinez has anything beat that Gaffney politicians can offer. Check out his political career on the net. Indicted 3 times, re-elected by dead people, you name it...but the Cuban American community loves him. Then again, Miami politics is a laugh factory as well--no wonder Jeb has such a good time running the state of Florida!! ;D On the other hand, Florida still doesn't have a state income tax.... Hope you have water for your morning coffee. Do we need to send the tankers in from Spartanburg yet??

Why wouldn't the Cuban Americans love him??? He is one of theirs. He is elected, much as they tried to get Gore elected in 2000 (but failed) because they didn't know how to read english, how to vote and they could not get enough voters registration cards into the hands of the illiterates and get them taught how to use the voting cards in time. ;D So they (the Democrats) turned it into one HUGE mess. To me (who lived for eight years in Hollywood Fla. When it was a nice community) it is no longer Florida but from say West Palm Beach down it is *Little Cuba" most stores have signs in the window that proclaim "English spoken here" Back to Martinez, they elect him with dead people, etc and that tells you exactly how Cuba got in the shape it is in today. That is the way they do business and they will turn Florida into the same thing they got on an inner tube to escape. Can't say that I really care for the Cuban embargo, I say drop the embargo, deport them all, return Fla. to the USA and lets move on trying to straighten out our own local and national mess. Like the way the Democrats will NOT give up on hounding Pres. Bush about his service in the NG. I bet all the men and women serving in the NG are feeling really good now that he (Kerry) says that it is just another way to avoid the draft. Even after revealing all his pay records they keep harping on it like a starving dog on a bone. Then of course the Fact that Jane *Hanoi Jane* Fonda has come out in Kerry's defense that should make every thing just hunky dory! (tongue in cheek) Then of course there is all this info staring to come out about Kerry and his *internationalist* views? Plus seems like his war record is not so hot as we have been led to believe. Oh, not saying he did not serve or that he was not wounded or that he did not recieve medals but, the fact that when he got back home he turned (no matter how well intentioned) on the soldiers he left over in Nam by demonstrating with the likes of *Hanoi Jane* and *supposedly* Throwing his medals on the white house steps? But, today he says that they hang *proudly* on the wall of his senate office??? Which is it Kerry? ???There is a lot that the Democrats should be doing to clean up their own *outhouse* instead of hounding, hounding on the same broken record. How dense are these people?? They have been told, shown and records have been released but, still they keep on the same track. Well that train is "God willing and the creeks don't rise" gonna derail its self and soon I hope. To think of the next 9 months of hearing " Well, I don't know, don't you think he should have MORE proof that he was in the NG and served his time?" Or "well these records are blurred and hard to read" I would simply tell them then "YOU go direct to the source and YOU get CLEAR copies, it has been released and is a matter of public record." That is MHO

"Martinez has received numerous gubernatorial appointments. He served on the Florida State Commission on Hispanic Affairs from 1979 to 1982, where he was elected Chairman in 1981, and on the Governor’s Commission on the Statewide Prosecutor’s Function from 1984 to 1985. In 1985, he was appointed by Governor Bob Graham to the [glow=red,2,300]Democratic[/glow] Policy Commission’s Roundtable on Defense and Foreign Policy." End quote
Ever notice most of the time, when a politician is caught with his hand in the cookie jar, " democrat" comes up? There are republicans also, but 90% of the time it is a liberal. Of course, with a conservative, the liberal slanted media will have a field day with it. Wonder way not much is said about the "left"? Could it be because a study shows 88% of the news media reps. are liberals?

Good Morning Hometowngirl, I'm not sure that West Palm is the boundary now...it may be farther north . Anyway, just think that if all of the trade embargoes were lifted and a free market economy suddenly developed in Cuba,---how long would Castro last?---maybe a day?? The Canadians and Spanish, by investing in resort hotels and tourism, along with Cuban American relatives in the U.S. are funneling cash in, only which props up Fidel. While this is creating a "free market" (albeit partially underground) which will eventually undermine Fidel, he can't last forever. As an interesting side note, when I bought my first house in Miami in 1982 , you'll never guess who my next door neighbor was!! It was Juanita Castro, Fidel's sister--she didn't have much to say about her brother . (Then again, the realtor didn't tell me who my new neighbor would be). Atleast when I was out of business trips (single back then) I knew my house was always safe because someone was always watching the cul-de-sac , only thing was didn't know which side was watching. Anyway, glad to hear your water is back on. Atleast they knew where to find the broken pipe ;D Have a good day.
