well bernard smith and his gang of merry (tax 'em to death) men have struck again! this 2% tax on prepared food is another way to fill the cities coffers, while misleading the over-taxed people of this county. this money is supposed to be used to promote tourism. what a crock of bs! I can see it now. :oALL HOTELS BOOKED IN CHEROKEE COUNTY FOR THE 4TH OF JULY WEEK! THOUSANDS FLOCK TO GAFFNEY TO SPEND HOLIDAY LOOKING AT PEACH! get a life you morons in public office! seems everytime a neighboring city raises taxes, or spends money on foolishness, our elected "good ole boys" have to follow suit. Can't put all the blame on them I guess. The people who continue to vote the same crooks back into office get just what they deserve! Thank goodness I live close enough to NC, that I can go there to eat and make other purchases. ;D

When I first moved to S.C. a few years ago, I lived in Gaffney. Then, I bought a house in Spartanburg County. I kept on getting my truck tag renewals from Cherokee County not thinking much about it. Last year I bought a new truck, and I saw that on this year's assessment, it too said Cherokee County and they wanted about $500.00. I told my wife to take the bill down to the Spartanburg Co. Tax Assessor, thinking it might be cheaper here. Spartanburg Co. charged about $650.00 for the same truck--so maybe you folks in Gaffney don't have it that bad after all...

Personally, I dont care how they do it in Spartanburg. I too live in Gaffney, and concern myself only with the things here. I hate the thought of driving in what everyone there(Spartanburg) thinks is heaven, and it's where you go when you die. I agree with Redneck. We have always had a bunch of "good old boys" in office, and will always be as long as the "do gooders" are in control. Like he said, blame the dimwitted voters, not the crooked politicials!

Too Bad the FATZ sign at the Peach is what most folk see as they fly by Gaffney on I-85. Then again, I guess you folk ain't never heard much about zoning!!! Is there even a Zoning Board in Gaffney?
Now, if you could get yourself a fireworks store with another jumbo sign on the other side of the Peach, you'd really be on the map!!! ;D
