Goodbye america, They are coming in by the thousands since Bush's speech giving all illegals amnesty. He swore to defend and uphold the laws of this land and yet refuses to uphold the immigration laws. Of course they only will want jobs americans don't want, right? Like peach pickers, janitors, carpenters, construction work, etc. Open your eyes! They're calling California Mexifornia now. I guess we'll be living in South Mexolina?

I don't agree with you. I think everyone should have a fair try at life. They didn't ask to be born into poverty. They come here to make a better life for their family as I am sure you would too if it where the other way around. As far as them taking the jobs, why do you feel that way? If you work hard, you have nothing to worry about. If you are a deadbeat, then maybe that is why they are giving jobs to them because they work hard. I am an American woman and I live in Gaffney.

Well Casey, I agree with you (to a point) I also agree with Gaffnoid. I believe that anyone looking for a better life should have the opportunity to come here and do that but........LEGALLY. Through the proper channels. If you tried to *slip* into russia, china, Bogata Columbia or any of the other countries you would probably be shot on the spot NOT handed $50.00 and a welfare chit. The illegals are one of the reasons (beside mis management) that California is broke. It is also why Arizona is going down the tubes. While this is a huge, great magnificent country it also has its limits. We can NOT support our people AND the rest of the world. Yes the illegals are poor and Yes they do need help but not at the expense of our schools, hospitals and welfare system. We have GOT to get a *grip* on the immigration system. IMHO As for Gaffnoid, He is right in that the illegals "streaming" across the border have increased since Pres. Bush has proposed the work amnesty proposal. I keep hoping that I will wake up to hear that he (The Pres.) was simply trying to divest the Democrats of another plot to get illegals to vote. I do believe it was a Democrat that wanted to give them all drivers licenses? With a drivers license they can vote and, vote they would have... for the Democrats, ....who gave them the wherewithall to vote, although it would have been illegal. In 2000 there were many cubans in Miami found to have drivers licenses and voter registration cards that were illegal, And I am sure that this is a plot that has been in the works in the past and will be again in the future. So you see both of you are right but It is our countries systems that need to be altered and fixed. The politicians have played fast and loose with our safty and welfare and we have allowed them to do it. So now it seems to me that we have a President that says what he means and means what he says (weather we understand all the ramifications or not) and I for one am willing to give him another go round at it. While I do NOT agree with the amnety or NAFTA or a couple of other things he has held true to what he has said to date and that counts BIG in my book. Be well

Well, hometowngirl, thank you. You said that very well! I too like how Bush handled the "war on terror" in the beginning. But seems things are not quite out in the open where other issues and the administration are concerned. Halliburton? Moon & Mars by 2020? Illegal immigration? Corporate outsourcing? $ 500 billion deficit this year? And a host of others.
