I watched the New Hampshire Democratic Presidential debates last night to discover that Howard Dean had in three days time made an amazing metamorphosis from a raving, angry, out of control Bush basher to a docile, controlled Bush basher who, according to him, thinks with his heart instead of his brain.
Watching the debate was a colossal waste of time, as all the candidates are so many peas in a pod, generally speaking.
They are all anti-Bush, pro-gay, pro-abortion, anti-tax cut, and with the exception of Joseph Lieberman who showed more guts that all the others put together, they all believe that the world is a safer place without Saddam Hussein but they don’t think we should have gone in and taken him out of power.
Senator Lieberman, in a total departure from the rest, said that the war in Iraq was a just war and that we did the right thing in defeating Saddam.
John Kerry, basking in his Iowa win was trying to be grave and presidential and not doing a bad job of it, if a perfect coiffure and
heavy eyebrows are your cup of tea.
John Edwards looked like a guppy in a pool of sharks, not looking presidential at all or even very senatorial for that matter.
Wesley Clark has made so many contradictory statements that it’s hard to know what he really thinks.
Al Sharpton didn’t accomplish much except to remind us that he was the minority candidate and Dennis Kucinich should have just stayed home.
In essence they all had a lot criticism for the Bush administration but they were severely short on answers.
Kerry said that we needed two more divisions in our Armed Forces, but when asked what he would do to induce young people to join the military he said that he would assure them that they would never have to go to war unless it was absolutely necessary.
Necessary in whose estimation? Who is going to deem it absolutely necessary? It’s still a matter of opinion.
And the one scary thing about all the candidates is that they seem anxious to turn the sovereignty of the United States of America over to the United Nations.
In my book it’s dangerous thinking to even consider having to get permission from a toothless, waffling, self serving debating society before we defend ourselves.
We don’t need the permission of the rest of the world to decide when we need to use military action to defend our own sovereign shores.
A lot of the members of the United Nations hate our guts and even some of our so called allies don’t like us very much.
I personally would be very happy if America would succeed from the U.N.
