;D After living 35 years outside Buffalo NY, I MISS IT!!!!! I did not care for it when it was horizontal and I had to get up at 5 a.m to go to work but, i have to say (even then) it was beautiful! Then the days that I did not have to go to work and could sit in my warm dining room at the sliding glass doors a top our hill, sip my morning coffe, watch the deer and turkey cross our yard? That to me was heaven! Of course my hubby who had to drive to Buffalo (50 miles one way) 5 nights a week has a totally differant out look on it! LOL He would come home and have to plow us and the neighbors out. So he does not miss it one bit! However the snow we get here at home behaves as snow should. It comes and looks pretty and then it goes. What you have around here is just minor stuff to us.

I would prefer some snow on top of all this ice! Though, I love the ice because is keeps us off the roads and gives us a long weekend! YIPPEE! ;D ;D ;D

no insult intended here JavaMom but, I am glad people are (pretty much) off the road here, I have to go to the store later and get a prescription and dog food. (The dog food is just so the dogs dont eat me) I am not afraid of driving in this kind of weather, I am pretty used to it but, what scares the bejeebers out of me are the people down here who are NOT all that used to it and don't know how to drive in it. sort of like "Ghost cannot hurt you but.....................................they can make you hurt yourself!!" ;D stay warm and cozy inside and *hopefully* we wont loose our power. (I *hate* the sound of that genarator chugging outside.) but no where near as much as I would *hate* not having it!

;D Well Rockefeller center has nothing on me except the rocketts! I have this 1.4 acre ice skating rink that is considered my front and back yard that I cannot (will not) go out in. Even my poor dogs have a hard time getting around! I laughed til I had tears running down my cheeks this morning at the pit experiencing his first *ice* he tried to run and was spread eagled all over the place! Had this huge frown on his forhead looking at me as though to say, "well, don't just stand there laughing, come get me!" I told him "fat chance! you got your self out there you can jolly well get your self back!" He finally made it back in and he pouted for half an hour. The english pointer? she is used to it, she lived n NY with us. But, even she had to re-learn how to get around on the stuff. I hope you are all tucked in and cozy and DO NOT HAVE to go out. I have been watching the traffic past my house and they are taking it re-a-l-l-l-y slow. (thank Goodness). There was some kind of problem just below our house yesterday the fire truck and the rescue squad went creeping down there, hope it wasn't serious. Stay warm and safe all

LOL on the dogs Hometowngirl...my dog absolutely HATES the rain..but she doesn't have a problem with the ice...seems to love getting out in it, if only for a few minutes! She gets around on it much better than myself. I must say, I have TRULY enjoyed the long weekend, sipping coffee or cocoa, and literally eating the cabinets bare as I enjoyed a good book or watched junk TV. Loved watching all the kids in the neighborhood sledding down the hill as i stayed warm and cozy behind my partially fogged windows (due to soup boiling on the stove)! This has been a wonderful time! But! Now I'm ready for springtime! Looking forward to the flowers blooming and the birds singing! Then too..hanging the sheets outside to dry in the sun! Nothing like going to sleep with the fresh smell and feel of sun dried sheets! {{{sigh}}} Ohhhhhhh, hurry Springtime!

Oh i'm with you on the sun dried sheets. LOVE! the smell of line dried clothes. I have been looking at seed/flower catalogs and pining for the spring time also but, I just can't work up that much of a tizzy about it. I am used to 7/8 month winters and I just don't think we are going to be going that long now. So I will just cozy in and make the best of it. The only worries I have is if I am going to have to sign my deed over to Duke power to pay my bill. Hate this heat system we have in this house and hope by next winter we will have figured something else out. Another story about the *Pit* He minced his way over to a tree to lift his leg and as soon as he obtained a three legged stance,.........he would slide away from the tree, he would then move back to the tree and once again assume the *stance* and once again slide away from the tree. He finally gave up and slid his way over to a bush and finally succeeded in getting the job done! LOL sooooo funny ;D

LOL Hometowngirl..your "pit" sounds like a character! Unfortunately, I am crying tonight. Last night my dog disappeared. I cried 'till the wee hours of morning. I let her out to "potty" and she didn't come back. She alway comes back after no more than 5 minutes or so. I am literally lost without her! Worried myself sick last night that she's somewhere wanting to come home and just can't get away. Really have missed her and took off from work today to put up flyers, called the local radio station, the animal shelter..etc. All to no avail. She is a Shih Tzu with a mix of brown, grey, white, black...mostly a greyish color. She answers to the name "Kitty". I've had her for over 3-1/2 years now and she is like a baby to me! Miss her so much and worry what's become of her!!! She disappeared around the Alma Mill area. If anyone thinks they see her, please contact me! Thank you!

Hi Hometown girl! Thank you! Thinking that she had been picked up by someone who really wanted to take care of her is the only thing that has gotten me through the past few days! But the most miraculous thing happened!!!!!!!!!! Our son went on a trip with the church group yesterday and got home late last night. He said that his friend, who lives on 10th Street, is sure he saw Kitty on Friday (not realizing at the time she was missing)..and told him the exact area where he had seen her. I KNEW there was NO WAY that could have been my dog...but hubby went to search this morning before i woke up...and she was right where my sons friend had seen her on Friday. I haven't a clue how she got there.. I just know she wouldn't have gone that far by herself. She always goes right out and comes right back in....But from now on she's only going to the back yard, which is fenced in!
I cannot tell you the relief and elation i had this morning when hubby put her on the bed and she woke me up jumping all over me and licking my face!!! Or going "ape $*** as hubby put it!!!! lol I am sooooo thrilled and thankful to have her back!!!! It was a lot more fun taking the flyers down than it was putting them up!!!! lol
I am sorry to hear that you've been through this yourself. It's sure not easy!!!! Thank you again, so much, for your concern!!!!

Hey Hometowngirl! TY TY TY ;D ;D ;D I don't remember a boarding house. Hubby is at work, and I'm sure he'd remember it. I'll ask him about it. My Mother grew up around the Alma Mill. I'll ask her about where they lived from the boarding house. She attended Alma Elementary, as well as my children, which I think is pretty neat! Not sure where exactly they lived, though. Now you've got my curiousity up! hehe...will find out and let you know. Mama's maiden name is Peterson. Does that ring a bell with you? ;D

;D ;D As we get older we have more and more of those *senior* moments. just ask me! I know!!! I seem to be having one for the last two days. I am having trouble getting in here. Had to re-register yesterday to get in and now today I can't get in using the new password, so went back to the old one and got in. DAVVIIIDDDD!!! whats going on? Lord knows I do not need anyone/thing confusing me any more than I already am I have been having all kinds of difficulty for the last week or so, someone/or program is hacking me and has made a mess of many of the things that I do everyday here on my PC. At present I think things are under control. 44/45 that was about the time that we moved out to Draytonville I think Ask your Mom if she knew the *Coopers?*
